This report reports on the funding cuts faced by Health and Social Care Trusts here and what this will mean for those relying on the services they provide.
Not so long ago this single mum was picking up the pieces of a broken life.
She has asked the BBC to protect her identity.
As she struggled with alcoholism, all four of her children were placed on the Child Protection Register.
But once she accepted her addiction and the services of Home Start, the situation dramatically changed.
Home Start prides itself on tackling family problems before they spiral out of control.
Last year they helped over 3,000 children, but recently their North and East Belfast offices were told that funding has been halved.
In a statement the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust said due to the current financial situation they need to make significant savings but they were critically examining all spending, including funding for voluntary and community sectors.
