tekkentac

Tactical combos: collect tokens in the open world that will allow combos to be done automatically in boss fights. Or you could manually fight the boss...

E.g. Jack-2 (You) vs Yoshimitsu (CPU)
  1. Select pause combo menu to see the moves available (as in Practice Mode)
  2. Execute the combo by yourself

If you have collected 15 tokens before the boss fight, this would enable the combo to be executed from the pause combo menu automatically. If they run out you have to execute the combo by yourself. But why? Because the bosses can be too difficult to manually fight

Collecting tokens would be like leveling up. Tokens can be obtained from non-boss fights (e.g. Peons, slaveworkers, monsters). However someone skilled at button mashing (a hardcore gamer) doesn't need to level up i.e. collect tokens. This separates the skilled from the casual gamer

Other information:

  • Normal tokens - allow combos to be executed automatically
  • Rare tokens - give combo recommendations: "when combo 23 finishes use combo 14"
  • One hit combo - this will lead to a switch to the boss's turn, who may very well beat you if he/she uses a good combo on you
  • Hardcore gamer - the pause combo menu is optional. It serves to help players defeat difficult foes. However a harcdcore gamer or smart player may win without it
  • Combo types - keep CPU in the air, keep CPU to the wall, a continious grapple/grab

To the bottom left are 4 Wins; those could be "the tokens" collected.
Or they could be small icons of fruits for colour presentation, or better still icons of brand names such as Cola, Sprite, Mars, Snickers, Walkers obtained from non bosses. Its the perfect "in your face but not really" kind of advertising. When you consume one you can do a combo effortlessly; that makes sense. Though I'm not sure what kind of reception that would receive...tokens could be better, leave the brands on the billboards in cities
